Cybersecurity & OSINT Case Study

Case Study 1

As part of a white-hat hacking project, the Mississauga Central Library computer system, available to the public, was accessed and through a simple process of saving a batch file on the desktop and then running it, provided command prompt. Once a certain code was entered, full administrative access was granted.

Case Study 2

As part of a white-hat hacking project, the Pearson International Airport terminals were accessed and through one of the airlines websites, a simple process of accessing a map led to an unsecured web browser popping up and granting access to their main server, command prompt and administrative access privileges.

Case Study 3

As part of a white-hat hacking project, an individuals personal webpage was accessed and an advanced open source strategy was utilized to grant access to a hidden (from search engines) calendar which provided proof the individual was cheating on his wife. This was further corroborated through additional open source strategies that led to personal posts he made to a female who also posted back with explicit sexual comments and other advances to him. Lastly, the whois information from his website provided evidence of his identity, address, phone number, and the company he owned. Lastly, address was confirmed and a vehicle found associated with the subject as well as pictures of himself and his wife.
